Retinol Power

Why use Retinol in a skincare regimen?
Retinol is one of my favorite skincare regimen products.  I call it a non-negotiable treatment products.
My non-negotiable treatment products:

Not all retinols are created equal. Some have a little retinol in the formula but are more on the lighter side and not much cell turnover is happening.  Retinol can help the skin increase cell turnover, acne, resurface the skin, brighten, help with fine lines and wrinkles.

Who should use retinol type of serums?
Retinol is suitable for all skin types, from sensitive, anti-aging to acne prone skin types.  Many retinols are fairly potent and take a little bit of time for the skin to get used to it. Frequency of use can be adjusted till the skin gets acclimated to the potency of this serum. Our Emerge night serum is a great serum for those who are used to using Retinols or people that are new to the ingredient Retinol. It is also a great one for sensitive skin types.

Application of Retinol Treatment Serum:

Use Emerge Night Serum at night on clean skin.  Thicker and/or oily skin types can use it every night and other skin types can use every other night. Changing the frequency can also help with how your skin responds to the ingredients.  If you have a blemish or acne prone area you can use it as a spot treatment also.  It is recommended to use after eye cream application to avoid any irritation around the delicate tissue around the eyes.  We recommend the anti-aging peptide packed Eye Renewal Serum.

To buffer the potency the Emerge Night Serum can be mixed with your lotion or moisturizer to reduce potential irritation. Best time to use this serum is at night. During the day make sure you have your client wear a sunscreen.

Checking in with your client while they get acclimated helps them find out the right frequency to use the retinol night serum.

Don’t let your clients give up.
Many that try clinical night retinols with out knowledge on how they work tend to give up on the formula too early. Normal skin reactions are redness, flaking or sensitive skin. These side effects are very common and this is why you want to help your client find the right frequency so they will have successful results. You may hear a client mention they are having a reaction to the product. Before purchase prepare your client with how the skin can react to retinol. Normally if a client knows what to expect they will not be concerned with a little redness, flaking or sensitivity. This is where they can change their frequency and also try using a product to help soothe the skin barrier.  The Daily Skin Salve is a great product to couple with the Emerge Night Serum.
