What you need to know about CBD.

I am sure you have had a client ask about CBD or seen all the buzz online or on TV.  We had many accounts ask us when we would have products with CBD available.

When we first started researching about this ingredient, we were weary at first.  We spoke to chemists and professionals in the CBD industry to find out what this was all about.  We heard so many positive things about CBD and we wanted to find out if there were any negatives.

After much research and testing we are ready to launch our CBD product line.  The benefits and feedback were amazing!  There are so many products and variations out there that we wanted to offer a quality, effective and clean CBD line.  One that aestheticians and skin care professionals can trust to sell and use in their offices.

We want to give you a guide about how CBD is used and the benefits of using it in your skincare clinic. This will also help you answer any question and debunk any myths your clients may have about the ingredient CBD. Feel free to contact us with any questions. We will be launching more CBD products soon.

CBD is legal with the passing of the 2014 Farm Bill. Considered a game changer for the cannabis industry, industrial hemp-derived CBD oil is grown with less than 0.3 percent THC and can be bought and sold in all 50 states. CBD can be found in Topicals, Tinctures (oil drops), gummies, capsules, bath bombs and even in chocolate.  So many people are excited because many would like to have the health benefits of CBD.

What Is Hemp?

The cannabis plant has a cousin and its name is “HEMP”. Unlike cannabis, hemp contains little to no THC, and scientists have discovered how to extract therapeutic and medicinal CBD oil from hemp. The best part is that products produced from industrial hemp are not classified as a drug.

What is CBD?
CBD is an ingredient within the plant that has remarkable health benefits? CBD, or Cannabidiol, is rapidly becoming the focus of interest in both medical research and consumer demand.  Cannabidiol is one of the most critical cannabinoids contained in the cannabis plant. It exists both in agricultural hemp, as well as medical cannabis.

CBD is one of over 100 phytocannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Phytocannabinoids are chemically like the endocannabinoids produced by the human body; both types of cannabinoids interact with your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). It is believed that because CBD indirectly activates cannabinoid receptors in the ECS without binding to them, it increases the number of endocannabinoids naturally produced by your body over time. The more endocannabinoids available, the less CBD you need to feel the benefits of a well-functioning endocannabinoid system.

What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?

The endocannabinoid system is a biological system that plays an important role in the human body.  Endo stands for endogenous, which means originating within the body. Cannabinoid refers to the group of compounds that activate this system. Cannabinoids are the chemical messengers for the endocannabinoid system. CBD is one of the many cannabinoids available.

The endocannabinoid system is a target of medical research because of its widespread effects and therapeutic potential.  The endocannabinoid system is involved with regulating many basic functions of the human body.

Some scientists believe the overall function of the endocannabinoid system is to regulate homeostasis. Homeostasis is in the biology of all living things. It is described as the ability to maintain stable internal conditions that are necessary for survival.
